Martinique
Why Martinique?
Martinique Here are a few
reasons why families might
choose to travel to
Martinique:
Beach Vacations:
Martinique boasts stunning
beaches with clear waters
and white sands, making it
an ideal destination for
families looking for a
relaxing beach getaway.
Outdoor Activities: The island offers a range of
outdoor activities suitable for families, such as
snorkeling, diving, hiking, and exploring rainforests
and waterfalls.
Family-Friendly Resorts: Martinique offers a range
of family-friendly accommodations. We found a
couple of gems that I’ll share.
Language Learning: Martinique is a French-
speaking island, providing families with the
opportunity to practice and improve their French
language skills while immersed in a French-
speaking environment. Our daughter is learning
middle school French classes - so this was perfect
for her.
Relaxation and Wellness: With its tranquil
atmosphere and beautiful natural surroundings,
Martinique offers families the chance to unwind,
recharge, and enjoy quality time together away
from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
How did We Get There?
Martinique is an island located in the eastern
Caribbean Sea. It is part of the Lesser Antilles and
is situated in the eastern part of the Caribbean
archipelago. Geographically, Martinique is
positioned north of Saint Lucia, northwest of
Barbados, and south of Dominica. It is an overseas
department of France, making it an integral part of
the French Republic.
Since it’s an island…air is definitely the way to go.
We flew in on American Airlines, which has a daily
nonstop flight from Miami.
What did We do there?
Martinique is a chill caribbean island.
We rented a car and drove around the island.
We went to Carrefour restaurants and found our
favorite french grocery store foods.
We went scuba diving!
How did We Prepare?
Our kids love beaches. That was all we had to say.
What do I Still Want to Do There?
I want to do all the hikes. I love natural beauty and
there is a ton of it here. I think there are a lot more
waterfalls to discover and other awesome
picturesque beaches. Additionally, our scuba diving
adventure made me
Any crazy stories about Martinique?
We were scuba certified 25 and 15 years ago.
However, we found a highly-rated dive shop that
had exactly what we needed - a refresher dive. We
went out on a boat and had a one-on-one (well,
two-on-one) refresher talk with an expert diver to
remind us what we had previously learned.
